FAQs

What is confidentiality and how does it work?

Your privacy is very important. What you share in therapy is kept confidential and will not be shared with anyone without your written permission. There are a few exceptions required by law, such as when there is a concern for your safety or the safety of others, or if there is suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elder, or vulnerable adult. These situations are rare, but we’ll review them with you during your first session so you know exactly what to expect.

What can I expect in the first session?

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We’ll discuss what brings you to therapy, your goals, and what you hope to get out of our work together. We’ll also answer any questions you have about the process and explain how therapy works, so you feel comfortable moving forward.

Can I speak freely in therapy without fear of judgment?

It’s completely normal to feel nervous about sharing personal thoughts and feelings. Therapy is a safe, nonjudgmental space where your experiences are respected. Our role is to support and guide you, not evaluate you. You can share at your own pace, and together we’ll work toward the changes and outcomes you hope to achieve.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or struggling with emotional, relational, or life challenges, therapy can be a helpful support. The first session is a chance to explore your needs and see if we’re a good fit. There’s no pressure to commit beyond that initial meeting.

Do you accept insurance?

We are in-network with certain insurance plans and can provide a superbill if you wish to submit for out-of-network reimbursement. Please note: Reiki and other non-therapy services are self-pay only and are not covered by insurance.

How long are sessions and how often do we meet?

Sessions are typically about 50 minutes. Many clients begin with weekly sessions, and as progress is made, we may adjust frequency based on your needs and goals.

What types of therapy do you offer?

We offer a variety of approaches tailored to your needs, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for managing thoughts, emotions, and behaviors

  • Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) for trauma and distressing memories

  • Supportive therapy for emotional balance and coping strategies

  • Reiki for stress reduction and energy alignment

Do you work with children or teens?

Yes, we provide therapy for children and adolescents. Sessions for younger clients include age-appropriate strategies and often involve collaboration with parents or caregivers.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes. Secure telehealth sessions are available for clients located in Connecticut. Many clients appreciate the flexibility and comfort of meeting online. Sessions can be scheduled on an occasional or regular basis. If you’re interested in virtual sessions, please let your therapist or scheduler know.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may be subject to a late cancellation fee. You also have the option to request a cancellation through the patient portal for your convenience.

How do I get started?

You can reach out via the contact page, phone, or email. Once you provide your information and a brief description of your needs, we’ll respond to get you set up in the patient portal and then schedule your first session.

What changes or outcomes can I expect from therapy?

Every person’s journey is unique. Typical outcomes may include improved emotional regulation, stronger coping skills, reduced anxiety or depressive symptoms, better relationships, and overall increased life satisfaction. We will collaborate to set measurable goals that matter most to you.
